On May 30, actress Zoe Saldana attended the 2014 StepUp Inspiration Awards in Beverly Hills, California. According to the StepUp Foundation website, their goal "is to educate and excite teenagers about the possibilities for their futures in business and in life and to deliver on key outcomes of creating empowerment, self worth, inspiration, renewed strength, tools, strategies and fun."
It sounds like L'Oreal Paris ambassador Zoe, who was honored at the event for her women's advocacy work, is hoping to inspire a whole new generation of "women of worth," and we couldn't be more impressed!
An inspiring look
To receive her award, Zoe wore a lovely dress by Chloe with natural, peachy makeup and a gorgeous curled updo. Needless to say, we loved the look and couldn't wait to copy Zoe's voluminous hairstyle. Want to get the look? Here's how...
Step one: Starting with damp hair, distribute a curl-creating cream throughout. Then, comb through your hair to ensure it's evenly distributed from roots to ends. If you have time, allow the hair to air dry, twisting pieces as you go to create a natural curl. If you're in a rush, blow dry your hair and then use a curling iron to create curls.
Step two: Section off a few curls at the front and then clip them to the side, then use a wide tooth comb to tease your hair at the root along the crown and back of the head.
Step three: Next, bend forward so that your hair is hanging upside down. Using your hands, start twisting sections of hair toward your scalp as if creating a French Twist, adding sections as you move toward the crown of the head.
Step four: Once you've reached the top, hold the hair in place with one hand, and insert bobby pins along the back to secure it with the other hand. Using the ends of your hair that are left at the top, shape them into curled sections and pin into place at the top of the head.
Step five: Unclip the section of hair at the front and part it in the center. Shape the hair to frame the face, and then spray your hairstyle all over with a strong-hold spray. All set!
