Today may be Thanksgiving, but that doesn't mean we can't start planning for one of our all-time favourite holiday's: Halloween. If you're anything like us, you've probably already started thinking about this year's Halloween costume. But because pretty much anything goes on Halloween, choosing the perfect costume can often be quite a struggle. After offering you a few basic Halloween makeup tutorials, we're turning to Hollywood for some of the most over-the-top costume inspiration we've ever seen.
Our favourite part about Halloween? Achieving a makeup look that's scary, glam and feminine all at the same time. To help you re-create a celeb-inspired costume that incorporates each of these elements, Get The Look is giving you a selection of Halloween makeup looks worn by our favourite celebs!
HALLOWEEN: MAKEUP INSPIRATION FROM OUR FAVOURITE CELEBS
After taking a good hard look at the Halloween makeup worn by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez , Alessandra Ambrosio and Paris Hilton, we came up with a few key elements that each star has used to achieve a seriously scary (and somewhat sexy) Halloween makeup look.
To achieve that creepy rag-doll, zombie or devilish glare, there's nothing better than a full set of false eyelashes. Celebs like Nina Agdal and Sarah Hyland have been spotted with a voluminous set of falsies on to complete their Halloween makeup look, so why not take a hint from them to achieve your supernatural look? After pasting on your lashes, make sure to draw a bold line of black liner over the base of the lashes to cover up any excess glue. For added drama, you can apply a mascara like Miss Manga's Voluminous Rock mascara on top of the lashes.
If you're going for a creepy rag doll costume, you can even apply lashes onto your lower lids for that wide-eyed doll look. Better yet, false lashes come in a number of colours, sizes and styles that will creep out all of your friends this Halloween!
The best way to create a seriously creepy Halloween makeup look? With a set of coloured contacts to go with your false lashes. Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Alessandra Ambrosio, Sarah Hyland, Nicole Sherzinger and Paris Hilton have all used coloured contacts to complete their Halloween makeup looks. Whether you prefer bright blue, red, white or even black, coloured contacts are the perfect way to scare your fellow party goers (or simply change up your eye colour if you've always wanted too)!
For sensual and dramatic eyes, you know you can always count on a black shadow and liner. On Halloween night, black eyes just so happen to be our best ally. Apply a black or dark grey shadow around your eyes on the upper and lower lids like Nicole Sherzinger, or draw on a dramatic cat-eye like Paris Hilton and Alessandra Ambrosio.
Whether you contour with basic bronzing powder, pink blush, black shadow or face paint, an intense contouring technique is a must for achieving a standout Halloween makeup look. Contouring allows us to intensify our best assets, making us appear even more supernatural. Just make sure to use a heavier hand than usual for the occasion!
A BOLD LIP
What would a Halloween costume be without a little lipstick? Despite being the perfect chance to dress up as something you aren't, Halloween is the perfect time to adopt makeup trends straight from the runway. While Jennifer Lopez adopted this season's blurred lipstick and lip contouring trend, Alessandra Ambrosio took the look to a whole new level, outlining her red lip with a black pencil.
