HALLOWEEN MAKEUP TUTORIAL: BARBIE
STEP 1: FOUNDATION & CONTOURING
To create a very doll-like, fake-looking complexion, start off by applying primer onto your skin. Next, use a cool-coloured liquid foundation or one that is slightly lighter than your skin tone so that it closely resembles Barbie's skin. Apply the foundation all over your skin for an even complexion. For the ultimate Barbie look, apply bright blue contacts to create that doll-eyed look.
Next, contour your skin using a bronzing powder and highlighter to sculpt your face into Barbie's shape. Apply highlighter onto the bridge of your nose, chin, corners of your mouth, under the eyes in an upside down triangle shape, jawline, above the brows, and around your Cupid's bow. Then, take your contour and apply it directly underneath your lips, along the bottom of the chin, around the nostrils and along the sides of the nose, corners of your upper lip, and temples. Blend using a makeup sponge then set your contour with a translucent powder.
Finish up your complexion by sweeping a tiny dose of pink blush onto your cheekbones. This will give you a hint of that Barbie glow!
STEP 2: EYES
Using a white liner pencil, draw the curve of Barbie's eye. Start at your inner corners, extending slightly down past your tear duct and bring the liner up along your lash line, then colour in your entire lid. Use a white shadow to go over top of the liner you just applied to create a more pigmented look.
Next, grab your white liner pencil and apply it on the inner corners of your waterline. Skip the middle portion of your waterline and apply the same white liner onto the outer corners of your waterline.
Using a brown liner, create a curve on your eye that starts in the inner corners and runs along the crease of your eye. Apply a pink shadow right above the crease of your eye. To create the complete Barbie eye makeup look, apply brown shadow or liner with an angled brush underneath your lower lash line.
Take a liquid black liner, and draw a line that follows the curve of your upper lid. Extend slightly past the outer corners. Using an angled brush and a cream brown shadow, go over the brown line along your lower lids, then create small lashes underneath your eye. Finish off with a layer of volumizing mascara, and use a liquid liner to draw on long lashes across your upper lid.
STEP 3: LIPS
To create Barbie's heart-shaped mouth, use a pink lip liner to outline your lips, placing emphasis on the Cupid's bow. Next, go in with a hot pink lip liner and outline your mouth, then fill in the surface area of the lip. Use a white liner pencil or highlighter to draw a horizontal line across your bottom lip creating that 'shiny' plastic look.
Next, outline the area underneath your bottom and top lip with a red lip liner to create dimension. Blend the colours with another pink shade of your choice and voila! Cartoon lips!
