To help you create the perfect Harley Quinn costume (attitude not included), Get The Look is giving you a step-by-step tutorial. Our only tip? Wear that red and blue eyeshadow with pride!
HARLEY QUINN MAKEUP TUTORIAL
Although Harley's skin is really pale in the movie, to make it more life-like and wearable, start by contouring a few key areas. Swipe a bronzing powder along your cheekbones, hairline, underneath your lips and on your collar bones. Blend it with a buffing brush. Set everything with a matte, translucent powder and keep highlighting to a minimum, placing it only in places like under your brow bone and in the inner corners of your eyes.
Next, using a brow brush, brush your hairs up and outward. Then, using a brow or angled brush, apply your desired shade in light strokes to fill in the brows.
The trick to getting eyes like Harley's isn't in how you smudge your shadow – it's about the pigment you use. Opt for a cream base shadow that will offer intense colour. Smudge one eye with blue shadow (using your fingers, if you'd like), and the other with red. To get that splattered effect, take whatever colour is left on your brush from initial application and drag it outward and down.
To add dimension to your eyes, line them with a thin coat of black liner and smoke out the edges to create a smudged effect. Then pick up a tiny amount of black shadow and blend in the outer corners. Add a white pencil to your waterline for a doll-like effect.
Now for the messy part: Glitter! To apply glitter on top of your shadow, wet a flat shadow brush. Do this each time before dipping it in the glitter so there's minimal fallout. Pat the glitter on gently and follow the shape you already made with your shadow.
Finish up by applying a creamy, cherry red lipstick onto your lips. Then, take your finger or a small shadow brush to sweep the colour on the lower bottom lip downward. Then blot. Apply another layer of red on top for shine.
Now for the tattoos: A black felt-tipped liner will work best when drawing on shapes and words. Draw the outline of a heart underneath your right eye, on the apple of your cheek. Next, write the word "Rotten" on your cheek just another the heart.
Finish off by pulling your hair into pigtails and spraying the ends with blue and red hair colour!
