5 MAKEUP TECHNIQUES TO STEAL FROM KIM KARDASHIAN
BAKE YOUR MAKEUP
Kim Kardashian's makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic has become known for his undereye "baking" technique, which makes dark circles totally disappear and gives you that perfect Kim Kardashian-esque matte finish.
Here's how to do it: Apply a thick layer of concealer under the eyes in an upside-down triangle, brushing it out with a concealer brush or sponge along the sides of the nose and almost to the temples. Next, blend the edges slowly and thoroughly so it's completely diffused into the foundation. Then, use a sponge to coat the concealer with a loose, translucent face powder. Let it sit for a few minutes then brush off the excess powder with a fluffy brush.
One of the many traits Kim Kardashian is known for is her flawless brows. They start off light in the middle and get thicker and darker towards the outer corners creating an ombre effect. To do this, use a darker colour (depending on your hair colour) to fill in the outer corners of the brows, then switch to a lighter colour and lighten your dose as you reach the inner corners. Use a brow brush to shape your brows in an up and outward motion. This effect will give you a softer, flawless shape.
According to Kim Kardashian, if you only have one eyeliner in your makeup bag, you're doing it all wrong. Three or four layers of different eyeliner formulas will create beautiful definition on the eyes, and stay on for hours. Start off with a kohl liner deep into the base of the lashes, then go over it with a liquid liner, lifting it up lightly at the outer corners. Finish off with a cream shadow on top for the ultimate layered liner look.
APPLY FOUNDATION EVERYWHERE
You probably already blend foundation on your forehead, nose, chin and cheeks, but what about your eyelids, ears, chest, arms and legs? If you're going out and baring a lot of skin, work your foundation from head to toe to make sure your skin is as even as possible.
While contouring is a makeup technique that's been used to sculpt the facial features for ages, it was recently popularized by Kim Kardashian's flawless makeup look – achieved by contouring. Using a brush and bronzing powder, contour under your chin and along the jawline, down the neck to shade and slim, and down the sides of the nose. Next, use highlighting powder to highlight the bridge of the nose, Cupid's bow, chin and above the cheekbones. Finish off by dabbing peach blush directly onto the apples of your cheeks and blend out to the temples.
