Natural-looking makeup is the biggest beauty trend on the planet right now so knowing how to apply foundation properly is a must to get an understated, 'barely there' look just right. Unlike foundations of yore, modern ones are almost as easy to work with as a moisturiser, meaning that it's probably easier to get your skin looking flawless than you think.
There are just a couple of things you need to know about when applying your foundation and before you know it, you'll be ready for that close-up...Step one: Choose a foundation that works for YOU
The most important thing of all when dealing with foundation is making sure you have the right shade for your skin tone. Make sure you test any foundation you're thinking of buying and make sure you get a good look at it in broad daylight before you commit. (Check out our guide to choosing foundation, too!)Step two: Preparation
Before even taking the lid off your foundation bottle, you need to make sure your skin is ready for it. Well-hydrated skin is essential, so make sure you moisturise at least five minutes before you put your foundation on. This allows the moisturiser time to be absorbed properly.Step three: Apply it the right way
For a casual or daytime look, simply use your fingers to apply small amounts of foundation to reduce redness and help even out your T-zone. Don't apply it everywhere-- just to problem areas. And BLEND!
Top tip: Apply concealer afterward your foundation to avoid using more of it than you need. The foundation will hide most of the blemish anyway.
After all that, dust on a tiny amount of powder if you feel you need it and you're good to go!
