How to: contour like Cara Delevingne

It's tough work being one of the world's most in-demand models and top "It" girls, but you wouldn't be able to tell that by looking at Cara Delevingne. The British model was spotted at The Serpentine Gallery's Summer Party on July 1, looking picture perfect in a simple black dress with a tousled high ponytail and natural makeup look.

Natural beauty

Cara's soft, sculpted beauty look was totally understated and effortless. Her makeup artist utilised nude and warm brown tones to draw out the British beauty's best features- such as her deep set eyes and chiseled cheekbones- through the use of contouring. If you want to try out a look like Cara's, you'll definitely need to master this technique... but don't worry, we've got all the information you need to copy this look!

Contouring is a special makeup technique that brings definition to the face by adding shadows and light exactly where you want them! Using a powder or cream formula contouring product (no darker than two shades from your natural skin tone), you can create a sculpted effect by applying the product in a 3 shape along the sides of your face, on each side of the bridge of your nose, and in the sockets of your eyes. Then, emphasize the shadows you've created by applying highlighter on the high points of your face. Follow our Highlighter 101 Guide to get the scoop on highlighting.

Copy Cara's look

Once you've applied foundation to even out your skin tone and mask any imperfections, start contouring! Make sure to blend the product in well as you want it to look as natural as possible. Bring warmth to your face with a touch of pink blush just on the apples of your cheeks.

Make your eyes the focus of your look by creating a thin line along the lashes with black eyeliner and use a few coats of mascara to add definition and length to your lashes. Want thick brows like Cara? Use our tutorial to make it so! Finish off your makeup look with a slick of lip balm on your lips and you're good to go!
