Yesterday, September 15, saw the Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2016 show hit the New York Fashion Week runway, bringing a whole host of gorgeous celebrities to its front row. Actress and entrepreneur Jessica Alba attended in stunning style, pairing a cobalt blue, figure-hugging body-con dress with an over-sized white blazer, which she then coupled with diamond drop earrings, a bold tangerine lipstick and a super high, super stylish sleek top knot.
Whatever your look for the evening and whatever the occasion, a smooth wet-look top knot could be the ultimate updo to vamp up your style! So what are you waiting for?
Get the look
Start by perfecting Jessica's wet-look texture. Use your fingers to work a nourishing and rich hair oil from the roots of your hair right down to your tips, before switching to a comb to rid your locks of any kinks or knots. If you have thick hair or just want to go a step further with your wet look, combine the oil with a sculpting hair gel to fully cover all of your tresses, and comb through again from root to tip.
Use a comb to then pull your hair up smoothly to the crown of your head, and secure the ponytail in place with a hair tie. Twist the ponytail from the root to the tip to form a spiral, and then wrap this spiral around and over the hair tie to create a bun, with the loose ends of your hair ending up at the back.
Use bobby pins around the base of the bun to secure the updo in place. Use your fingers to tease the loose ends into pointed spikes for Jessica's punky finish, before twisting them into place to form a decorative fan-like shape. Fix in place with more bobby pins and a spritz of hair spray to give your top knot that NYFW front row finish!
