Karlie Kloss: Dark liner and a little black dress

Karlie Kloss: Dark liner and a little black dress

by Paige Exell -

Supermodel Karlie Kloss is known for being a natural beauty. But that doesn't mean we don't love seeing her rock a sultry smoky eye or bold lip from time to time. On Tuesday night, the L'Oreal muse attended the 2016 Whitney Art Party at The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City wearing the little black dress we're all looking for this holiday season. The mini dress came adorned with satin ruffles on the bottom and sleeves and a high neck line that added a sophisticated edge to her look.

To compliment her LBD, Karlie pulled her hair back into a tousled bun, accessorized with a sparkly black clutch and heels, and went heavy on the black liner. Karlie's look is perfect for the holiday season – it's sexy, sophisticated and subtle!

If you're looking for the perfect beauty look to go with your little black holiday dress, read on to find out how you can re-create Karlie's red carpet look!

KARLIE KLOSS: DARK LINER AND AN LBD

MAKEUP: DARK AND MYSTERIOUS

FOUNDATION

To go with her LBD, Karlie played up her eyes with black liner and a neutral complexion. To get her look, start off by perfecting your base with a liquid foundation. Depending on your skin type, liquid foundation will provide more hydration during dry winters. Use a beauty sponge or brush to blend the product into your skin, covering up any redness or breakouts.

COMPLEXION

Once you've perfected your base, enhance your cheekbones with a soft pink or peach blush. Place the powder onto the apples of your cheeks, moving up along your cheekbones towards your temples with a fluffy brush. To highlight the more prominent parts of your face, apply a highlighting powder or liquid illuminator onto your forehead, bridge of nose, chin and upper part of your cheekbones.

EYES

Now for the best part: Eye makeup. Karlie used a rose gold eye shadow around her black liner that stands out underneath her hooded lids. Start off by applying a black or grey shadow onto your eyelids (don't go past the crease), then use an angled brush to apply a shimmery black shadow underneath your lower lash line. Dampen the angled brush slightly to give your liner that smudged appearance. On your upper lids, make sure to blend the shadow outwards slightly past the outer corners of your eyes for more depth and definition.

Next, apply a rose gold or bronze gold (whichever you prefer) shadow just beneath the black shadow underneath your lower lash line with a fluffy brush. Apply the same rose gold shadow on your brow bone just above your crease (and above the grey shadow) on your upper lids with the same brush. Blend slightly for a seamless effect.

For an even more dramatic look, apply a black liner pencil on your waterline, then tightline your upper lash line for the appearance of fuller lashes. Finish off by applying a few coats of a volumizing mascara onto your upper and lower lashes.

BROWS

Shape your face – and draw attention to your gorgeous eye makeup – by using a spoolie to brush your brows up and over towards your temples. Fill in any sparse areas with a brow gel or pencil that matches your hair colour. Finish off with a touch of nude lipstick and you've achieved a Karlie Kloss-approved look!
