L'Oreal Paris muse Karlie Kloss is known for her classic and feminine taste in fashion and beauty trends. The supermodel often makes appearances on the red carpet donning a classic, yet modern outfit or gown and pairs it with a simple makeup look and hairstyle that usually consists of gorgeous skin, an eye-catching highlight, mascara, subtle lipstick or gloss and a chic up-do.
When it comes to her off-duty looks, Karlie's sense of style remains similar: Simple yet modern, trendy and feminine. And while we're often used to seeing Karlie switch between a bold plum lip and a nude one or a sleek up-do and a shoulder-brushing style, she seems to have a new favourite look that has become her go-to off-duty style: An undone up-do.
Earlier this week, Karlie was spotted wearing an undone bun on the top of her hair not once, not twice, but three different times. She of course, paired the style with different outfits that also inspired our next shopping trip. Read on to find out how Karlie wore each style and how to achieve it on your own.
KARLIE KLOSS' UNDONE UP-DOS
HOW SHE WEARS IT
On December 15th, Karlie was spotted in New York City wearing a red and black plaid jacket, distressed jeans and a turtle neck sweater. She complemented her look with a tousled up-do that consisted of a bun at the top of her head, and loose pieces of her bangs brushing on each side of her face.
On December 16th, the supermodel was spotted once again donning the tousled bun. This time, she paired it with a camel coloured trench coat, distressed jeans and a white button-down shirt for a more put-together look.
The third time around, Karlie was spotted using her tousled up-do to add a playful, carefree and sporty vibe to her vibrant red bomber jacket, blue t-shirt and mom jeans. She finished off the look with a red lip to match her coat and give her a more glam look!
HOW TO ACHIEVE IT
We love this hairstyle because not only is it carefree and easy to achieve, it can be worn with just about any outfit – as proven by Karlie Kloss – for that cool-girl appeal. Read on to find out how to get the look!
To achieve this hairstyle, start off with second day hair that contains some of your natural oils. This will ensure your hairstyle has texture and stays put throughout the day. If you're working with freshly cleaned hair, use a serum, oil or texture spray and work it into your hair using your fingers.
Once you've achieved texture, use your hands (it'll give you a more tousled look) to pull your hair up to the top of your head. Pull the hair through an elastic in the shape of a loop, then stop pulling and secure the strands with the elastic to achieve the shape of a bun. Use bobby pins if needed.
Use a fine tooth comb or your fingers to pull hair from the front of your face down on each side of your head. If you have bangs, part them in the middle and let them sit on each side of your face. If you need to tame the hair slightly, use a straightening iron to do so.
Finish up by applying a generous amount of hairspray, then feel free to tuck loose pieces behind your ears or let them sway in the wind as you please!
