Lately, L'Oreal Paris muse and supermodel Karlie Kloss has been showing her love for this season's dark lipstick trend. She was first spotted donning the trend while out in LA, showing off fuchsia lips with a dewy complexion and a cool band tee. For her in-store appearance at Swarovski late last month, she showed off a similar look but this time, traded her bright pink lip for a classic red. Karlie even showed us how to turn up a super casual look when she attended an LA Lakers game with supermodel BFF Kendall Jenner, wearing yet another red pout.
Her most recent red lip appearance? Last night's WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, where Karlie stunned in a glamorous sheer gown adorned with silver bow details. The L'Oreal muse paired her wintry gown with a dark red lip, dewy complexion and a touch of mascara.

KARLIE KLOSS: RED LIPS AND DEWY SKIN
While we're used to seeing Karlie with an illuminated, glowing complexion, her dark red lip gave it an added amount of glam. To achieve a glowing complexion like Karlie's, start off by prepping your skin with an illuminating primer. Then, create a flawless base using a liquid foundation of your choice. Use a makeup sponge or brush to blend the foundation into your skin.
Once you've unified your base, create that 'wet' looking glow by applying a small dose of liquid illuminator onto your cheekbones, forehead and chin. Finish off by adding a warm flush to your complexion with a hint of peach blush on the apples of your cheeks, working your way up towards the temples.
The best way to look fresh and glamorous when wearing a dark lip is to keep your eye makeup minimal. Define and add depth to the eyes with a light dusting of brown shadow, then enhance your upper lashes with a volumizing mascara. You can make your lashes appear fuller by tight lining between each lash with a black pencil liner.
Now for the fun part: The lips! When choosing the perfect lip colour, take your eye colour, hair colour and skin tone into consideration. Warmer reds will compliment blue or green eyes, while cooler reds look best on brown eyes. To create the appearance of plump lips, start off by lining them using a matching lip liner, then use the liner to fill in the surface of your lips to create a base. Apply a dark shade of red (or colour of your choice) onto your lips, and then layer it with a small dot of lighter red lipstick in the centre of your mouth.
