Despite a morning of delays and disappointing cancellations due to torrential downpour, Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived in Bella Bella, British Columbia, a small Indigenous community that has recently been in the news for its threatening suicide rate. The couple was greeted by the Heiltsuk First Nations community, which included a youth performance at the centre.
And while we know how a rainy day can negatively impact our overall look, this time around, it gave us some serious rainy day style inspiration, thanks to Kate Middleton's laidback look. Read on to find out what she wore!
DAY 3 OF THE ROYAL VISIT CANADA TOUR
KATE'S RAINY DAY OUTFIT
After being snapped in a tailored blue Jenny Packham dress, followed by a red-and-white Alexander McQueen number, the Duchess of Cambridge dressed down for yesterday's rainy day. And surprisingly enough, her outfit was easy to re-create and something that most of us would pick out for a gloomy day ourselves. The Duchess wore a safari jacket by Holland & Holland, a pair of jeans from Zara, knee-high boots by Penelope Chilvers and gold earrings by Pippa Small – the perfect, rainy day combo!
As for her hair, Kate wouldn't let a little rain ruin her look! It was wavy and tousled slightly near the ends, while the top portion of her brunette locks were pulled back into a half ponytail. We love that Kate's fashion and beauty looks are so simple and down-to-earth!
AN ELEGANT RED GOWN
The Royal's Day 3 itinerary finished off with an evening reception in Victoria at the Government House – one of the few formal nights during the Royal Visit Canada tour. For the event, Kate stepped up her fashion game and wore a scarlet stretch-crepe dress by Preen by Thornton Bregazzi – a style which has, unsurprisingly, already sold out. The look was unusually bold for Middleton who favours more conservative dresses by designers like Jenny Packham, but we love that she took a risk – the resulting look was regal and glam!
The Duchess accessorized with a textured burgundy clutch that added subtle shine, and red suede pumps giving her a streamlined, monochromatic aesthetic. And of course, she wouldn't be a duchess without some antique jewels. On her chest, Kate wore a Maple Leaf diamond brooch borrowed from the Queen that added a dash of dazzle to her look. And in true regal fashion, she wore her back in an elegant, yet slightly voluminous chignon that allowed her dangling earrings to shine.
Stay tuned to see what Kate will wear on her next stop!
