Lea Michele: copy her updo with bangs!

Lea Michele attended the Variety and Women in Film Emmy Nomination Celebration in Hollywood, California, on August 23. The Glee actress, author, singer, and L'Oreal Paris beauty ambassador looked fantastic in a bright floral gown with natural makeup. It was her easy-going hairstyle, however, that caught our eye!

Being the multi-tasker that she is, Lea needs hairstyles that can easily transition from day to night, or from a picnic with her new beau to a red carpet event. Enter: the bun with fringe!

Why we love the look

This classic hairstyle can be achieved in just a few minutes, and without any fancy styling tools, making it a good standby for any gal to have in their repertoire. And though it feels familiar (aka old news to some of you), the long bangs add an instant "style" to the look. Want to give it a try? Here's how...

Get the look

Step one: Start by blow drying your hair with a round brush. Start with the bangs first and be sure to slightly curl the longer sections that frame your face.

Step two: Once your hair is dry, use the end of a comb to section your bangs away from the rest of your hair. Secure them with a clip while you smooth the rest back into a high ponytail.

Step three: Grab the end of the ponytail and twist the hair until it curls down toward the scalp and creates a bun. Secure the ends with bobby pins to keep the hair in place.

Step four: Loosen your bangs and then use your fingers to position them- you want the longer pieces to fall to the sides and the front section to lie flat.

Top tip: If your hair is being fussy, feel free to use some styling putty.

Step five: Spray the style with hairspray to fix it.

All done!
