If you wear makeup or use hair products, you probably already know about double duty beauty. You know, the ones you can use for different purposes on different parts of your face. You may have used hand cream to help keep frizz away, blush on your eyelids to replicate that eye shadow shade you haven't gotten around to picking up yet, and lipstick on your cheeks for a dewy flush.
But the latest double duty trick is one you've probably never heard of before – and one you'll appreciate the most! That's right, putting eye cream on your lips will make them appear more plump and hydrated. Read on to find out how to apply it, and how to finish off your lipstick routine to fake fuller lips in just three easy steps!
LIPSTICK HACK: HOW TO FAKE FULLER LIPS
STEP 1: HYDRATE
It turns out that whatever is good for the delicate skin around the eyes is also good for the delicate skin around the mouth and just on top of the lips. Before going to bed at night, apply an eye cream just on top of your lips and around your Cupid's Bow to hydrate them – especially in the winter!
When you wake up in the morning, your pout will feel surprisingly soft and as a result, a little plumper than usual. Eye cream is also great to use before lipstick because it absorbs the lipstick for a look that will last longer. If you put lip balm on before lipstick, your lipstick may smudge and slide around. Eye cream will prevent this from happening.
STEP 2: LINE
The next step in achieving perfectly plump lips? Liner! After you've chosen the lipstick colour you'd like to use, chose a lip liner that will match it. Apply the liner around your lips, over-lining slightly outside of your lips to make them appear larger. Remember to focus on shaping your Cupid's Bow when lining your lips to create a more defined look. Fill in the surface area of your lips with the liner to ensure your lipstick colour goes on perfectly.
STEP 3: CONTOUR
After lining your lips, you'll want to contour them using two shades of the same colour. For example, if you've chosen to wear red lipstick, choose a deep red and a brighter red shade of lipstick. Start off by applying the darker shade of lipstick onto the entire surface of your lips. Then, apply the lighter colour in the middle of your bottom lip, creating a small dot with the lipstick. This will add depth and dimension to your lips, making them appear more plump!
