Lucy Hale at the 2016 iHeartRadio MMVa's: plum lips and a blunt haircut

Lucy Hale at the 2016 iHeartRadio MMVa's: plum lips and a blunt haircut

by Paige Exell -

At last night's iHeartRadio MMVA's, it was clear that supermodel and co-host of the night Gigi Hadid made a bold statement wearing an electric red Mugler suit and bejewelled Fallon choker. And while we always love what the blonde bombshell has to offer in the style department, one celeb in particular stood out from the rest with an overall look that we aren't used to seeing her wear.

Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale stepped out onto the red carpet wearing a silver strapless sequin mini dress with matching metallic pumps and a black box clutch. And while her ensemble was one that made quite the loud statement, it was her beauty look that really caught our eye.

LUCY HALE'S GOTHIC-GLAM MAKEUP LOOK

Lucy created a stark contrast between her bright sequin mini dress and her makeup look, opting for a dark plum lip that gave her a sultry, gothic-glam appeal. She strayed away from the summer season's dewy skin trend, going for a full-on matte complexion and slightly flushed pink cheeks. As for her eyes, Lucy took a minimalist approach wearing a few strokes of mascara on her upper and lower lashes that allowed her eyes to stand out with the help of bold, filled-in brows.

To get Lucy's look, start by unifying your complexion with a powdered foundation to achieve a matte finish. Next, use a light shade of pink blush, and gently sweep it across the apples of your cheeks, creating a slight flush. Use L'Oreal's Superstar mascara to coat your upper and lower lashes, and make your eyes pop by shaping and filling in your brows with a brow brush and gel. Remember to start from the inner section, and work your way up and out with the products.

Finish off with a shade of matte plum lipstick to achieve Lucy's gothic-glam appeal. Line your lips with a liner of the same colour before applying lipstick to ensure perfection.

A BLUNT LOB

By now, you know that short bobs are one of the hottest trends of the season, spotted on catwalks and red carpets alike. Lucy chose to try out her own version of the trend, sporting a blunt, lob (long bob) that perfectly shaped her face and gave her an air of sophistication and maturity (in the best way possible!).

If you're daring enough to chop it all off for the summer, remember to take your face shape into account before visiting the salon. If you have a rounder face like Lucy's, opt for a long bob that sits just above your shoulders to avoid widening the face.
