Cool autumn weather means the resurfacing of makeup trends like plum lipsticks, warm colours and sultry smoky eyes – until L'Oreal muse Karlie Kloss paved the way for a slightly unconventional fall makeup trend: bright lipstick. While bright lips are thought to be reserved for sunny skies and warm, summer weather, Karlie Kloss challenged this unspoken makeup rule by attending a recent L.A. Lakers game wearing a set of bright pink lips.
Earlier in the week, the supermodel made an in-store appearance at Swarovski in Los Angeles donning a casual up-do that showed off a vibrant red lip. So, what did Karlie do with the rest of her look to compliment her newfound love of bright lips?

MAKEUP TREND: BRIGHT LIPS AND GLOWING SKIN
Along with bright lips, a glowing, dewy complexion is usually synonymous with warm spring and summer weather (the sun works best in highlighting a glowing complexion!). But once again, Karlie challenged this beauty rule and paired her vibrant red and pink lips with shiny, glowing skin.
To get this look, start off your look with a hydrating moisturizer, then prep your skin with L'Oreal's Lumi Primer. This will give you that natural glow that appears as though it's coming from underneath the makeup. Then, apply a lightweight foundation onto your complexion and add a swipe of liquid illuminator on the bridge of your nose, high points of your cheekbones and forehead using a sponge or brush.
If you're rocking a bright pink lip, dab a little bit of pink blush onto the apples of your cheeks for a slight glow and complimenting look. Using your blush brush, sweep the colour upwards on your cheekbone towards your temples.
The best thing about wearing bright lipstick is that it's enough to allow you to skip out on the eye makeup. Karlie paired her bright pink lip and rosy cheeks with nothing more than a few coats of mascara on her upper lashes and full, brushed out brows. To achieve full brows, use a brush to comb them up and outwards, then fill them in with gel or a pencil that matches your hair colour.
The supermodel took the same approach with her vibrant red lip look, opting for a subtle hint of rust coloured shadow, a swipe of black liner on her upper lids and mascara.
Whether you choose a bright red, pink or other colour of your choice, keep the contrast by pairing your dewy, glowy complexion with a matte lipstick formula.
