Yesterday in Paris, Donatella Versace presented her Versace Fall 2016 collection, kicking off Day 1 of Paris of Fashion week. "I love the elegance, sophistication and drama of today's woman," Versace said in a statement. "This is a collection that reveals a woman's power, and her allure." Speaking of powerful woman, the show saw major supermodels of the moment, Joan Smalls, Bella Hadid, Taylor Hill, and L'Oreal muse Irina Shayk walk the Versace runway (wearing enormous, tough-girl hoop earrings) that packed a powerful punch.
The collection consisted of sinuous, off-shoulder dresses in blush pink, flirtatious opera coats in a shade of mint-y green, and asymmetric gowns in lilac silk (a colour that will dominate come autumn, thanks to its appearances on the autumn/winter ready-to-wear catwalks), that hinted to a gentler take on sexiness.
Models hair was pushed back into easy-going chignons that made fly-aways look cool (finally!), while others embodied this seasons short hair trend that's been having a major moment in the spotlight (and on our fave celebs!)
And while powder-blue eye shadow was the makeup look of choice, it was the lipstick that caught our eyes this time...
MAKEUP TREND: GLITTER LIPS
Donatella contrasted her feminine shades of powder blue and subtle pinks with a vampish oxblood coloured lipstick that were coated with a layer of sparkles. And while we've seen glitter pop up on the spring/summer 2016 runways on models eyelids, we're loving this fresh take on the glam look!
Sparkle lips are a more subtle way to rock the glitter trend (if you'd rather not wear them all over your eyes), especially for the holiday season. The key to pulling them off? Keep your eye and face makeup to a minimum, coating your lashes with only a touch of mascara!
Want to get a head start on the glitter lip trend, or simply practice for the seasons to come? Get The Look has got your back! To start, use a red or vamp-y oxblood shade of lipstick – L'Oreal's Colour Riche Ruby Lip Palette has a wide variety of shades – and gently coat your lips at least twice for maximum colour. Next, coat your upper and lower lip with a clear gloss to make your lips sticky. To get the glitter effect, use a red or silver shade of glitter eye shadow, and use your finger to gently dab the formula onto your lips. Let the glitter dry onto your lips and voila! You're runway-ready!
