Maria Menounos' bubble ponytail: a runway trend for real life

We often spot trends from the runway that we love but can't figure out how to make them work in real life. Adventurous and avant-garde, these elaborate hairstyles look right at home on the catwalk, but do we dare wear them outside of our own bedrooms? Maria Menounos shows us how it's done with this gorgeous bubble ponytail! Not one we see everyday, Maria proves that red carpet hairstyles are more than Hollywood waves and faux undercuts!

If you're looking to switch up your look this season, take cues from Maria by following our easy tutorial below.

Step one

Make sure to wash and condition your hair with products from a smoothing range. Frizz-free hair requires maximum hydration so don't hold back on the conditioner! Once you're out of the shower, spritz heat protection throughout your hair.

Step two

Blow dry your locks straight on medium heat. Sweep your hair back with a comb and secure in a low ponytail at the nape of your neck. Make sure it's totally smooth before moving on to the next step.

Step three

Then, using a thin elastic, tie your hair again a few inches down. The key is to use hair elastics that are the same colour as your hair for subtlety!

Step four

Gently pull the hair in between elastics to create the bubble.

Step five

Complete the above process as many times as needed until you reach the ends of your hair.

Step six

Mist the style with Elnett Hairspray for added hold and shine. Gently pull a small wisp on each side loose at the front to frame your face and you're all set!
