Melissa Benoist: her new blonde hair color and how to copy it!

Actress Melissa Benoist attended the premiere of her latest film, The Longest Ride, on April 6th in Los Angeles, California, and we almost didn't even recognize her! The 26-year-old Glee star rose to fame as a stunning brunette, so when she showed up on the red carpet rocking a new golden shade, we were totally thrown! Apparently, Melissa has gone blonde for her role in the upcoming series Supergirl. We have to say, sometimes change is a good thing!

All about the look

We totally love Melissa's new blonde hair color. Made up of many nuances of cool-toned honey and wheat shades, Melissa's hair features darker roots that graduate into pale blonde at the ends. If you've ever wanted to try a lighter hair color like this one, now is the time! Spring is a season of transition and there's no better moment to try the California blonde trend than when the weather is warm! Here's how you can get the look...

Try the trend

Lighten your hair this season with L'Oréal Paris' Casting Sunkiss Jelly. The ammonia-free formula gradually lightens hair over several applications for totally customizable results that won't damage your locks!

To mimic Melissa's gorgeous gradient, apply the translucent jelly all over your hair for the first application. Use your fingers to smooth the product through dry hair and then use heat from your blow dryer to activate the ingredients. For the second application, apply the product several inches away from your roots and repeat the process. Finally, section the hair into two sections: top and bottom. Secure the top in a clip and then apply the jelly to only the bottom section 1-2 more times, until the hair is as light as you like. All done!
