Spring 2017 Fashion Week rages on in Milan, where supermodels like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and more take to the runway to show off the trends we can look forward to wearing come spring. And while often times, runway trends may seem a little too over-the-top for everyday wear, L'Oreal muses and supermodels Doutzen Kroes and Irina Shayk paraded down Versace's Spring/Summer 2017 runway in Milan showing off wearable fashion and beauty looks that we can't wait to re-create.
While Doutzen was dressed in a sporty navy jumpsuit with an adjustable waist and zipper down the front, Irina wore a similar sporty meets city look that included everything from high-waist leggings to a leather raincoat and heels. And while we love the two unique looks, it was their simple, yet uber chic makeup and hairstyles that caught our eye.
MILAN FASHION WEEK: VERSACE SPRING 2017
PIN STRAIGHT HAIR
Both supermodels had their sporty-meets-city ensembles paired with a head of long, pin straight hair, challenging this season's more prominent 'textured' hair trend. Their shiny locks gave Versace's active looks a more sophisticated edge that called for cool silver chokers and comfortable high heels to match. Luckily for us, pin straight hair is fairly easy to achieve (especially if your hair is already naturally straight!). Here's everything you need to know about achieving runway-approved pin straight locks.
Step 1: Start off by keeping your hair protected from heat damage by spraying it with a thermal protective spray. Heat up your flat iron as you do this, making sure that all areas of your hair are covered.
Step 2: Once your flat iron is hot, section your hair off into two separate sections (top and bottom), leaving the top section tied up with an elastic on top of your head, and the bottom section down resting on your shoulders. If you have thick hair, you may need to do this with three different sections.
Step 3: Begin straightening the bottom section of your hair, piece by piece, making sure to move the iron down the lengths slowly. This will ensure that the hair is perfectly straight in one movement to avoid going over it multiple times, which may result in more damage.
Step 4: Once you've completely straightened the bottom section of your hair, remove the top section from the elastic, and repeat, flat ironing your lengths from root to tip in an out and downward motion.
Step 5: Finish off by spraying your hair with a shine finish hairspray, or spray the formula onto a comb and brush it through your hair. For the ultimate hold (or if you have naturally curly hair) you can even place a small amount of gel between your hands, and move them in an downwards motion with your hands on each side of your hair.
ILLUMINATED EYE MAKEUP
We loved that Versace's hairstyles were simple, practical and easy to achieve. And luckily for us, her makeup looks were, as well. A far cry from bold glitter brows and graphic liner, makeup artists at Versace opted for more natural makeup looks and eyes that were enhanced with nothing more than a touch of iridescent white shadow in the inner corners and a coat of mascara. Ready to take on this easy look? Read on!
Step 1: Start this look by unifying your complexion with a matte liquid foundation. Apply the formula onto your skin with a damp sponge to avoid looking too cake-y.
Step 2: Next, enhance your complexion slightly by brushing a small dose of pink blush onto the apples of your cheeks.
Step 3: Use a light brown shimmery shadow to create a base on your eyelids, then use an angled brush to apply the same shadow on the outer corners of your eyes at your lower lashes. This will create a slight, natural shadow.
Step 4: Place a dot of iridescent white eyeshadow on the inner corners of your eyes to make them appear brighter and larger.
Step 5: Finish off by coating your upper lashes with a layer of voluminous mascara.
