The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards brought some incredible fashion to New York City's Madison Square Gardens on Sunday night, both on the red carpet and on stage. Beyonce arrived in a major feathered creation and dripping in millions of dollars worth of diamonds – that immediately sparked several Internet memes.
Meanwhile, everyone from Britney Spears, to Kim Kardashian, to Naomi Campbell arrived in bold, sexy looks (see our best dressed here). But celebs continued to slay style wise post-VMAs. Aside from being the place to celebrate a win or party in a more relaxed environment (away from the TV cameras), an awards show after party is also an excuse for one of our favourite things: the wardrobe change.
We took a good hard look to find out who changed (and into what) – and surprisingly, who didn't – for the VMA after-parties.
LOOKS FROM THE VMA AFTER-PARTIES
For her award show look, Kim Kardashian stunned in a sheer, body-con mini by John Galliano. She paired it with strappy heels and wore her hair 'wet' for a super sultry look. Surprisingly enough, the queen of outfit changes kept the same dress on for dinner with Beyonce, Alicia Keys, and Cassie. Don't worry, Kim! We loved the dress, too!
For her red carpet appearance at the VMAs, Ariana Grande wore a two-piece custom Alexander Wang trousers and off-the-shoulder lace crop top. Her hair was crimped and pulled back into her signature high ponytail and given a new twist with long, blunt bangs.
For the after party, Ariana changed into something a little more comfortable (a lot more comfortable, we should say), wearing a super casual pair of denim overalls and black heeled booties. The best part about this look? Ariana shows us how a high ponytail can be worn for a fancy night out, or paired with a simple ensemble when running errands or hanging with your BFFs!
You might think that a celeb would choose a jumpsuit for after the award show. Not Hailey Baldwin. For her red carpet arrival, she wore a black lace Georges Chakra jumpsuit with leafy embellishments. After the show, the blonde bombshell put on a white strapless David Koma dress, and used its thigh-high slit to show off a pair of gold strappy heels that reached her thighs.
It was clear that Beyonce had both won the VMAs arrivals and broke the Internet in a feathered Francesco Scognamiglio Couture gown. Queen B walked the red carpet alongside her daughter who wore a nude coloured tulle gown – like mother, like daughter!
As for her after party look, Bey wore the last dress she performed in at the show: a Yolan Cris sheer wedding gown with floral embellishments and lace details. The award winner wore her hair in a half-up half-down style that seems to be taking over the beauty world at the moment, while the loose half of her hair was worn crimped and down – talk about trendy!
Naomi Campbell stole our hearts with her glittery red lipstick when she stepped out onto the red carpet. And to compliment her bold lips, the supermodel wore a pale green velvet mini dress by Brandon Maxwell.
Postshow, she opted for a longer gown by the same designer, showing off her enviable long legs through the gowns thigh-high slit.
