Today, September 28, saw Milan Fashion Week play host to the Vivetta show, bringing a gorgeous selection of doll-like beauty looks and playful designs to the runway! The brand teamed checkered patterns, shift dresses and gentle, feminine shades with natural complexions, bold lip colors and - our favorite part - simple half-moon nail art, giving the models a touch of color at their fingertips! It has never been easier to make a statement with your nails: just follow our step by step guide below...
Get the look
When you are letting your natural nails have their moment, you need to make sure they are at the top of their game! Begin by filing them into shape, moving the file in one direction rather than sawing backwards and forwards and weakening the nail. Use a buffer to smooth out any ridges across the tops of your nails, then soak your fingers in warm, soapy water to remove any excess dust. Dry your hands and allow a hand cream to soak into your skin.
Now you have prepped your hands, it's time to master that half-moon manicure! Start by giving your nails a base coat, as this will both protect your nails from the polish - making it easier to remove later on - and will keep your chosen shade fixed in place.
Once your base coat is fully dry, it is time to create your half-moon. Choose the shade you want - or stick with the gorgeous warm red color from the Vivetta runway - and apply steadily in a half-circle shape just above your cuticle. This style can be a bit rough, as seen in Milan, and therefore can be done freehand pretty easily, or you can invest in some washi tape to get a smoother finish.
Give your half moons another coat for a more intense color, and - once they are completely dry - apply your clear top coat. Simple!
