As "undone", effortless looks take over the runways and magazine spreads, it seems even manicures have gotten a make-under. Say "goodbye" to the strict French manicure of yesterday- the version paraded down the runways at the Tibi presentation during New York Fashion Week featured an uneven white tip for carefree, low-maintenance vibes.
Love it? Want to recreate it at home? Here's how...
THE FRENCH MANICURE 2.0
Before beginning your manicure, trim and file your nails so that they have a slightly rounded shape. Then, clean the surface with a water soaked cotton pad to remove debris, which will help the polish adhere to your nail.
Apply a base coat to protect your nails from staining and prolong the life of your manicure.
Using a nude or pale pink nail polish, apply a first coat over the entire nail surface. Let it dry and then apply a second coat to achieve an opaque finish.
Now create the white tip on each fingernail. To do this, place your brush on the outside corner of your nail and slide it to the opposite corner. Don't worry about trying to get a straight line, the asymmetry of your white tips are what give this manicure charm!
Let dry your manicure for a few minutes. For a perfectly glossy finish and longer-lasting nail art, apply a top coat and let it dry completely.
Top tip: Want to give your new runway-ready French manicure some extra personality? Apply some glittery polish just over the white section! Gorgeous!
