Taylor's long and tousled style

New True Detective star Taylor Kitsch: his top 3 hairstyles

Taylor Kitsch has finally given us the news we've been waiting for; the Hollywood heartthrob will be joining the cast of True Detective when the TV crime drama returns for a second season.

Detective Kitsch

Rumors have been flying around for months that the actor would be starring in the show, but it wasn't until this week that the Canadian actor officially confirmed the news. Taylor told Adweek that he has taken a year off acting and turned down work because he was so determined to keep his schedule clear for True Detective.

"I'm excited. I loved that first season of it so much. It's just unlike anything I've seen in, you know, I don't know when. And it was so grounded. It could really happen. This is very similar, and I love that. It makes it more relatable," he said.

He wouldn't share details about the plot but he did let it slip that the new series will be set in LA unlike the first series, which took place in Louisiana.

We are so thrilled that Taylor will be joining the cast of True Detective that we decided to take a look at three of his best hairstyles to celebrate!

Long and tousled

Long hair on guys has made a comeback recently but no one nails it quite like Taylor. The actor showed the others how it's done when he styled his long locks into a loose tousled look at the 7th Annual GQ Gentleman's Ball earlier this month. Teamed with his rugged facial hair, the star's disheveled hairstyle worked in contrast with his suit to bring an effortless quality to his look.

Top of the crops

Taylor hasn't always had unruly locks though, and he can pull off a crew cut pretty well too, as we saw in May 2012 when he attended the Battleship Premiere in Los Angeles. This look was worlds away from his GQ style but it looked great with his beard and sharp suit.

Swept back chic

Taylor's swept back look for the John Carter press conference at the Boulder Resort in Arizona back in 2011, was a dreamy combination of rugged and smooth. His full beard and those bangs pulled away from his face drew attention to his eyes and worked in perfect harmony with his classic, all black outfit.

The star clearly knows how to pull off a wide range of looks, so it will be interesting to see what he does next. Anyone else excited for season two?! Stay tuned for more Taylor updates!
