For fashionista's and beauty queens, New Years Eve is easily one of the best holidays of the year. In addition to sipping on champagne with friends in a festive and upbeat atmosphere, NYE is the one time of year we get to try out daring new fashion and beauty trends that are defined by shiny metallic, glitter and sequins. To help you prep for the glam night ahead, Get The Look went in search of some of the most glam makeup looks from Fashion Week's runways. And since runway makeup is often unsuitable for everyday life, New Years Eve is the perfect time to give it a go!
One of the bolder looks on the runways? The graphic shadow/liner look that's both glam and super sensual – the perfect combination for NYE. It will complement your festive gown perfectly! Read on for 4 different ways to adopt the graphic look this year!
GRAPHIC EYE MAKEUP: 4 DIFFERENT WAYS
This NYE, there's absolutely no reason not to adopt 2016's favourite eye makeup trend: glitter! Whether it's on your dress, eyes, lips or nails, glitter adds the perfect festive touch any look. If your dress gears more on the subdued side, amp up your look with a graphic glitter eye makeup look.
To do this, apply eyelash glue onto your eyelid in the shape of a cat eye. Then, use tweezers to apply the sequins of your choice (in any colour!) onto the glue by gently pressing them into the glue. Finish off with a touch of mascara to enhance your lashes!
If you're inspired by the graphic cat eye look, but are already wearing a super shiny glitter dress, opt for a coloured eye makeup look instead. Swap your black liner for a coloured pencil or paint on a matte finish cream shadow. This bold look will add the perfect dose of style to a classic black dress.
To re-create it, arm yourself with a pencil, brush and the shadow colour of your choice. Create a cat eye on your lid, accentuating the look once you reach the outer corners. Layer mascara onto your lashes and complete your look with a transparent lip gloss!
For a more classic version of the graphic look, re-create Irina Shayk's edgy black shadow. The look consists of black eyeliner applied freely onto the eyelid, inner corners of the eyes and outer corners to create a dramatic and sensual look.
Achieve this look by drawing out cat eyes using a black liquid liner that will allow for a precise application. Then, fill in the negative space using a gel liner. Apply a black pencil liner onto the lower lash line to finish off the look, attaching it to the cat eye you created on your upper lash line.
The last graphic look to consider? The metallic finish. For a totally sophisticated and festive look, opt for metallic lids in a colour of your choice.
To get the look, apply a metallic cream shadow onto your lids using a fluffy brush. You can also use a damp makeup brush to create a cream formula out of a shiny powder one. For a classic look, use a metallic silver shadow, or a turquoise, purple or burgundy for a more playful appearance. Finish off with a thin layer of mascara, then unify your base with a matte foundation.
