New Years Eve Makeup Inspiration

by Paige Exell -

Now that you've chosen the perfect New Years Eve outfit and planned out your sparkly manicure to match, it's time to start thinking about how you'll wow those around you with the ultimate makeup look. Glitter, metallic and bold shades have defined the beauty trends of the season, but unfortunately, they aren't always easy to pull off in everyday life. That's why New Years Eve is the perfect opportunity to play around with different beauty looks and rock the trends you've been dying to try all season.

Get The Look has looked to Instagram (and some of the best makeup artists) for over-the-top NYE makeup inspiration. From glitter lashes, brows and lids to metallic liners and lips, we've got all of the beauty inspiration you need for NYE!

If you aren't a fan of full-on glitter lids and want to try out a sparkly look that's a little more subtle this NYE, turn your attention to glitter lashes and brows. It may seem like a lot, but this look requires only a tiny bit of sparkle that will catch the light every now and then for a subdued, yet festive look.

To get this look, simply use a spoolie to apply a metallic glitter shadow through your brows. Apply the glitter as if you were applying a brow gel, and brush your brows up and out as you go. Use a mascara wand to apply the glitter onto your eyel lashes, moving the wand from root tip. Apply it on your upper and lower lashes for the perfect look!

A TOUCH OF SPARKLE

One of the easiest ways to achieve a festive NYE look this year is to layer glitter over a nude shadow. It's subtle, sophisticated and adds a bit of life to your look! To achieve this look, start off by applying a nude shadow in brown or grey onto your upper lids. Apply a darker shade of the same colour on the outer corners of your eyes to add depth. Next, apply a gold or silver (depending on what colour base shadow you used) glitter shadow and apply it on the centre of your eyelids using your fingers.

Finish off by creating a slightly cat eye with a black liquid liner on your upper lid, then enhance your lashes with a volumizing mascara.

METALLIC SHADOW

Instagram account @beautyisboring_ used L'Oreal Paris muse Soo Joo Park to demonstrate a look that's perfect for NYE: Metallic shadow. Apply a silver (or coloured) metallic shadow onto your upper lids using a fluffy brush, then use an angled brush to apply it underneath your lower lash line for a more dramatic look.

If you want to spice up your NYE look even further, apply decorative stickers or sparkles onto the area underneath your eyes on your cheekbones like Soo Joo!

METALLIC LINER

If you're feeling a little more creative, swap your glitter shadow for a metallic liner, instead. Play around with it by applying a black liquid liner at the base of your lashes, and layering the metallic liner on top. You can even go a step further by creating a double wing with the liner, and finishing off with a glittery brow!

MATCHING EYES AND LIPS

If you're ready to go all out in the beauty department this NYE, take inspiration from Hailey Baldwin's gold makeup look, done by makeup artist Pat McGrath. To get this look, match a gold glitter shadow with a gold glitter lip and add a touch of edge with a black shadow in the corner of your eyes and a touch of black liner!
