Among the loud, wonderful and daring beauty looks taking to the New York Fashion Week runway, we love to spot those easy to copy, gorgeous trends that we can try ourselves back home. Which is exactly what we thought when we saw the fresh new twist on one of this year's hottest makeup trends - colored eyeliner - at the Bibhu Mohapatra Spring show on September 16, where the models were sporting turquoise two-toned winged eyeliner. Loving this audacious look as much as we are? Here's how it's done...
Get the look
The best way to begin any bold eye makeup is always to create a flawless base! Switch your regular foundation for a lightweight BB cream to get the desired coverage while still allowing your skin to breath. Once the cream has fully absorbed into your skin, switch to a lumi powder glow illuminating quad: apply the darker, bronze shade into the hollows of your cheeks, dust the apples of your cheeks with the mid-range rosy shade, and finish by adding a luminous glow to the tops of your cheekbones and just below your brows with the lightest powder.
Now it's time to bring out that eye color! Start with a lighter, turquoise-blue pencil eyeliner to create the inner flick. Start just below the tearduct and circle the pencil around, up and onto your lid, drawing the upper limit of your light blue shade in a smooth, steady stroke. Once you have reached the outer eye, pull the pencil up gently towards the tip of your brow to form the point of your flick, before turning it down and back towards the outer corner of your eye to complete the pointed, triangular shape. Use the pencil to then fill in this section until you have a block of color lining your lashes.
Switch to a darker, teal shade and repeat the above step, but this time create the soft blue wave and flick shape around the turquoise to create the second layer of color. Fill in the color again and use a cotton bud soaked in makeup remover to remove any mistakes and to make your eyes symmetrical.
Finish with a light dusting of silver eyeshadow around the inner eye and a coat of mascara for the perfect party look!
