With the cold fall weather taking its toll on our beauty looks, we are forever searching for new ways to add a touch of warmth to our makeup palettes! Thankfully, we have up-and-coming actress Nicola Peltz to give us a hint of hot red carpet inspiration, as she stepped out for the InStyle Awards on October 26 smouldering in burgundy winged eyeshadow.
Bring a bit of that rich, dark color to your own evening ensemble with our quick and easy tutorial below....
Be bold in burgundy
When using reddish tones for your eye makeup, try to keep your complexion as neutral and cool-toned as possible to prevent overpowering your look. Start by smoothing away your natural flush with a priming base, and give it a couple of minutes to sink into your pores.
Then apply a matte liquid foundation with a clean makeup sponge, starting at the center of your face and working out towards your hair line in small, thorough circles. Complete your flawless complexion by adding a light touch of blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend with your regular matte face powder.
Now to steal Nicola's red carpet smouldering eye makeup! Give your lids a light coat of eye primer to begin: this will prevent that mid-evening, smudged, panda-eye look ruining your night by keeping your makeup fixed in place for longer!
Next, add a slight hint of definition to your lash line by gently working a brown pencil eyeliner into the roots of both your upper and lower lashes. Then switch to your chosen shade of burgundy eyeshadow and dust the powder over your lids, into the creaselines and out into a soft wings pointing towards the outer tips of your brows.
Use a precision application brush to smudge the deep wine shade under your lower lashes for a soft, smoky edge. Add a small hint of a dark pink shade over the inner half of your lids, then use a clean soft-headed eyeshadow brush to blur the edges of the eyeshadow wings to take off the harsh edges. Finish with a coat of lash-thickening mascara and a pale nude lipstick and you are red carpet ready in no time at all!
