When did sport become so glamorous? We can definitely answer that one for you: it was when actress Nina Dobrev stepped out for the Sixth-Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic this Saturday, October 17, looking absolutely stunning in her pitch-side outfit and beauty look!
The 26-year-old star of The Vampire Diaries wore a cobalt blue Badgley Mischka cocktail dress with soft pleats, which she teamed with white strappy heels and a grey leather clutch. No surprises here that our eyes were locked on her gorgeous braided hairstyle and her unmissable winged eye makeup: what can we say, we are predictable! And we know that you obviously love her look too, which is why we have prepared this beauty breakdown below...
Get the look
To copy this simple but elegant braided hairstyle, start by massaging a volumizing mousse into your damp, freshly-washed hair. Spritz your locks throughout with heat protection spray and blow dry with a round-headed bristle brush.
Use a comb to separate the section you want to braid from the rest of your hair, creating the divisions in line with your eyes. Secure the rest of your hair in a tie while you work on the braid.
Follow our easy tutorial to create a French braid, working from your forehead back towards the crown of your head and secure with a hairtie. Take a strand of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the tie to conceal it then secure underneath. Release the rest of your hair and spritz with curl defining spray to add some movement and texture to your waves, before securing the entire look in place with a mist of hairspray!
Plum winged eye makeup
This makeup look is all about the eyes, so start by prepping with an eye primer to keep your eyeshadow fixed in place for longer. Once the primer has absorbed, use a plum-colored eyeliner to define your lash lines, thickening the stroke smoothly as you move across the lid towards the outer lashes and equally using the pencil to give your lower lashes a rich, smoky finish.
Next, use a soft-headed brush to apply a plum eyeshadow to the crease line of the eye and along the colored line you just created. Draw the eyeshadow out to form a soft 45° angle pointing towards your hairline and fill to form the purple winged look.
Switch to a soft shimmering cream shade to blend around the tearduct and the inner corner of the lid, then complete your whole look with a coat of lash-thickening mascara: gorgeous!
