One of the most anticipated runway shows of Fashion Week, Karl Lagerfeld presented his Spring 2017 collection for Chanel this morning in Paris. Like any Chanel fashion show, this one came with A-list celebrities, a runway set to put all others to shame (models walked through a set constructed as a giant mainframe computer) and of course, tweed.
The theme of the collection was a throwback to the early days of digital that combined a massive data centre that served as the set, pixelated prints on signature Chanel tweed, robots, and a noteworthy 3D Chanel robot bag to create Karl's Chanel take on 1995. The collection also had everything from tweeds twinkling with crystal and plastic and vibrant silk prints to pretty frothy chiffon sundresses, medallion necklaces, and a whole palette of summery colours.
One of our favourite things about this collection? Karl's take on the '90s was translated in models' hair and makeup looks, as well. Makeup artists and hairstylists captured the era perfectly, giving us serious Fresh Prince of Bel-Air vibes. And the best part is – all the beauty looks are totally wearable!

PFW: '90S BEAUTY TRENDS ON THE CHANEL RUNWAY
For their walks down the runway, models all wore sideways, different coloured hats to coordinate with their clothing. And while we love the idea of a casually chic baseball cap for spring, sometimes it's the little things that count. Hats were only one of many accessories, which also included statement earrings, and classic Chanel floral brooches. Our favourite? Charm-adorned hair elastics shown in fluorescent orange, green, yellow and powder blue.

LOW SIDE PONYTAILS
Over the past few months, we've seen many unique variations of the classic ponytail (including grown-up pigtails). But for Chanel's Spring 2017 show, hairstylist Sam McKnight gave the 'do a new twist, giving retro a modern update. Going along with the '90s theme, Sam went for voluminous, low side ponytails. The fullness and texture of the hairstyle – and the fact that there was no sign of '90s bangs or crimping in sight – modernized the look slightly. The low side pony is both sporty and chic at the same time, making the perfect, laidback spring hairstyle.
To achieve this look, simply pull all of your hair over to one side and put it into a ponytail that sits on your shoulders. Secure with an elastic. To create volume, back comb the hair within the ponytail and tease it gently with your fingers. Finish off with hairspray to complete the look.
SHINY PINK LIPS
To compliment the throwback hair and accessories, makeup artist Tom Pecheux created a youthful look that was likely every girl's favourite in the '90s – shiny pink lips. To get this look, simply lather on your favourite magenta lipstick, then go over it once or twice with a clear gloss. Keep your complexion matte to avoid gloss-overload!
And what would shiny pink lips be without a vibrant pink blush to match? Tom enhance models cheekbones with a similarly-toned blush that resembled complexions of the '80s and '90s. When applying pink blush, move from the hollow of your cheeks, upwards to your temples to create this dramatic, fun-loving look.
