Pedicure: how to treat your feet before sandal season

by Samantha Hunt -

The sun is shining, the flowers are in bloom, and the winter blues are getting tucked away in the back of our wardrobe with our thick winter socks - it's springtime ladies! Which means we are slowly pealing off those layers of knitwear and are faced with the thought of actually baring some skin for the first time in months. However, there is no need to panic! We are hear to get you feeling summer-ready and body confident in time for those hot days on the beach - starting with your toes!

Bring on the sandals!

Like us, you might be wanting to get your toes in top shape for sandal season, and we don't blame you! So to make things as easy as possible, we have put together a few simple steps to follow to both prep and pamper your feet at the same time. This pedicure is an ideal Sunday activity that also leaves your feet looking super glamorous!

Step 1

Start by wiping away any leftover traces of nail polish with a cotton pad soaked in nail polish remover.

Step 2

Fill a large bowl or a basin with warm water, and add some bath salts or essential oils for a real touch of luxury. Then allow you feet to soak in the water for at least 10 minutes.

Step 3

Use a pumice stone to gently scrub the calluses that build up around the balls of your feet and your heels. Then rinse your feet again in the water and pat your skin dry.

Step 4

Trim your toe nails with nail clippers then switch to a buffing pad to give the tops of your nails a smooth and shiny natural finish. It necessary, use an orange wood stick to gently push your cuticles back.

Step 5

Give your feet a nourishing layer of deep moisturizing body lotion and allow time for this to sink into your pores.

Step 6

Finally, lets add some eye-popping color to those toe nails! Give each nail a protective layer of base coat first, and allow for this clear formula to dry completely. Then choose your springtime shade - whether it's fuchsia pink, turquoise or lemon yellow - and give your nails two coats, allowing time for each coat to dry.

Step 7

Add the final touch with a layer of top coat, which will keep the polish fixed in place for longer.
