Rebecca Hall: women's short hairstyle inspiration

It's official: short hair is hotter than ever in 2015! From Lily Collins and Kate Mara to Scarlett Johansson and Ginnifer Goodwin, many stars have opted for cropped cuts in the last year, and actress Rebecca Hall is sporting one of our favorite versions!

On July 27, the British-American star attended AOL's Build Speaker Series in New York City to promote her latest film, The Gift. The star offset her sober, sophisticated black and white dress with a punchy coral lip color and flirty pixie cut that gave us major hairstyle envy! You, too? Here's what you need to know...

Why try a short hairstyle

While the red carpets and runways are dominated by long beach waves and elaborate updos, rocking a short hairstyle is one way to ensure you stand out from the crowd! This modern and charming look is reserved for the ultimate cool girl who knows how to balance tomboy-cool and femme fatale! We love Rebecca's cropped cut for it's artfully disheveled quality and sideswept bangs.

Get the look

The first step in copying Rebecca's perfect pixie is to make an appointment with your stylist! Ask for a cropped hairstyle that's trimmed short on the sides and back, and left long on the top so that it falls around ear-length. Once you've done that, it all comes down to styling:

Starting with towel-dried hair, distribute a dollop of volume mousse throughout your hair. Use a paddle brush to blow dry your hair straight until it's about 95% dry. Complete the look by warming some pomade between your fingers and then running your hands through your hair to create a piecey texture. All set!
