In true spirit of the 'China: Through The Looking Glass' theme, this year's Met Gala on May 4 saw the red carpet awash with its own true color: red! Whilst some stars indulged in more wild and wonderful sartorial designs for the evening, others took to donning this sensual and vibrant shade in a variety of hot trends to honor the color's place in Chinese culture as the shade of happiness and good luck.
Here are a few of our favorite ladies in red:
Allison Williams was a shining example of this year's rouge-revolution, wearing a tiered Giambattista Valli Couture gown with black beading and a Fred Leighton floral collar pin. The actress and Girls star finished the look with a high chignon, heavy dramatic eye and subtle, nude lipstick.
Model and socialite Poppy Delevingne wore a gown to suite her name in a red Marchesa with plunging poppy-covered torso. The 28-year-old glittered on the red carpet with a shimmering smoky eye with gold undertones to match her gold clutch purse, and a sleek ballerina bun.
L'Oréal Paris ambassador Jennifer Lopez always knows how to turn up the heat at any red carpet event, and this year's Met Gala was no different! In a sensual red Versace sheer gown with concealing dragon embellishment, she then completed the look with sultry red eyeshadow.
Actress Hailee Steinfeld did not hold back on the drama with this gorgeous makeup look, rocking a bold smoky eye with hints of gold on the inner corners and a ruby-red pout. To top it all off, her gown was one of our favorites of the night: a backless Michael Kors number, which she coupled with Beladora jewels and gold nails to match.
This leading lady can never put a foot wrong when it comes to her red carpet look! The actress wore a wine-colored Calvin Klein dress made from hand-cut leather, showing off her perfect figure with both a plunging neckline and thigh split. Rose then teamed it with a stunning beauty look: volumous tousled waves, shimmering pink eyeshadow, and a dark-nude lip.
Ever one to make a statement on the red carpet, Sienna Miller wore a plunging red-sequined Thakoon tuxedo with black tassled accessories. She then pulled her signature icy blonde hair back into a sleek ballerina bun before finishing the effect with dramatic, high-volume lashes.
