Wherever we turn at the moment it seems like singer Selena Gomez is everywhere, whether she's been out on the red carpet attending glamorous A-list events, or she's been performing onstage to promote her incredible new album Revival. Not that we are complaining: we can't get enough of the 23-year-old's gorgeously versatile makeup looks, continuing to inspire us time and time again!
Oxblood: the winter lipstick shade!
On December 3, Selena attended and performed for the WiLD 94.9's FM's Jingle Ball in California, wearing all-black from her polo-neck sweater down to her pointed-toe kitten heels, which she then teamed with a dark, oxblood lipstick shade.
The changing of the seasons is the perfect time in the year to give your makeup routine a bit of a shakeup, injecting some of those darker, richer colors that didn't quite fit into our beach-ready summer looks! Check out our favorite winter lipstick shades and give Selena's sultry and gothic oxblood shade a go in 4 easy steps...
Get the look
When you want to sport a dramatic lipstick shade, start by smoothing away any red spots or imperfections in your complexion. Smooth pea-sized amount of a priming base cream over your freshly-moisturized skin, and allow for this to sink in before reaching for your regular liquid matte foundation. Apply this using a clean sponge, working the formula across your skin in small light circles, then touch up with a concealer if necessary.
Keep your eye makeup pared back to balance your rich oxblood lipstick. Define your upper lashes with a coat of liquid eyeliner, and do the same with a pencil liner along your lower lashes, then complete your eyes with a simple coat of volumizing mascara.
Finally, it's time to put that wintery oxblood pout in place! Remember, your lips are still just another part of your skin, so keep them in shape by remembering to both exfoliate and moisturize! Use the head of a toothbrush to get rid of any dryness, moving the head gently across your lips is small, light circles, then give your pout a nourishing coat of lip balm.
Follow the outer contour of your lips with a lipliner to define the shape of your pout, then fill in the color with a rich wintery lipstick shade of your choice. Blot once then top up the color, and you are all ready to go!
