It might not feel like it yet here in Quebec but spring is officially underway and it's only a matter of weeks before we debut shorter hemlines for the new season! Of course, nothing pairs better with a sundress than bronzed legs; if yours are currently looking a little pale and dull, then you might consider adding some color to your skin with the help of a self tanner. Fast and easy, you can have all the benefits of sunkissed skin without the risks of sun exposure!
Here are our top tips for applying self tanner...
Refine Your Skin's Texture
To get a uniform "tan" it's important that your skin is perfectly smooth. Therefore it's essential to refine the skin's texture with a scrub, dry brush, or combination of the two! Prep your skin a few days in advance, exfoliating and hydrating everyday to make it easier for your skin to absorb the color.
Gradually Build Up Color
Ah, that fateful step during which we attempt to avoid looking like a cooked carrot! Don't worry, today's products make it easier than ever to achieve a natural-looking finish!
Choose your sunless tanning product and apply small amounts to your entire body, avoiding areas like elbows, knees, hands and feet.
To get more out of your product, you might consider mixing a small amount of self tanner with moisturizer and blending carefully. Massage the product in with light circular movements.
Wash your handsafter application.
Slip into a night gown or dark robe to avoid stains while your self-tanner dries. Wait at least 8 hours for your skin to turn deeper.
If you want a mroe intense color, reapply the product until you achieve the desired effect.
Maintain your tran by applying moisturizer each night to keep the skin suppled and radiant and reapply the self tanner every 2-3 days to maintain your color!
