by Samantha Hunt -

Whether you're looking for a rich anti-aging formula to battle emerging lines and wrinkles, or are simply looking for a nourishing formula to fight the drying effects of those approaching colder months, facial oils could be just the thing for you!

Whatever your skin type - even if you have an oily or sensitive complexion - there is a facial oil out there for you, and it could be the key to unlocking your perfect skin care routine this season! To make sure you are in the know about one of the hottest skin care tricks of the moment, read on for our quick guide...

What is facial oil?

We may associate oils with heavy, rich formulas that are great for the hair but not so great for those sensitive areas of skin, but now it's time to think again! Facial oils maintain their rich, hydrating qualities while being light to the touch, meaning that your skin absorbs the oil easily and there's no left-over shine or residue.

Why should I use it?

There are so many reasons you should use facial oils that it's much harder to find a reason not to! The essential oils used in these products have anti-oxidant properties, protecting your skin against damaging free radicals with just a couple of drops in the morning! This also helps the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

Oils are excellent at hydrating your skin while giving your complexion a glowing boost and a lit-from-within warmth. What more could you want to fight those cold, drying conditions of winter?

Finally, these little bottles of magic can help irritable or oily skin to find a soothing pH balance, while preventing your pores from clogging.

How should I use it?

First, give a couple of facial oils a try to find the one that's right for you. There are different formulae available for different skin types, so try to find a targeted product that would suit your needs best.

Use your facial oil after you have applied your serum but before you smooth on your moisturizer to get the best effect. Start small by just using a couple of drops, then increase over time depending on your needs.
