Pink Tartan Toronto Fashion Week Spring Summer 2014

Soft, tousled hair is hot at Toronto Fashion Week

by Kathy Saunders -

Twice a year we look to Fashion Week to set the trends for the coming seasons. From the photos of Toronto Fashion Week, it looks like this Spring/Summer we'll be sporting a lot of clean, sleek cuts in classic black, white, and navy, or pastels if we're feeling saucy.

Classic style

When it comes to hairstyles, one trend that's been popping up on the runway for a few years now is the side part . This is a hairstyle especially useful for growing out a fringe , when your bangs are in that awkward in-between stage of being too long to be a fringe but not long enough to stay to the side on their own. If your hair is all one length, try tucking it behind your ears like this model at the Pink Tartan show for a vintage look.

Making waves

Another hairstyle that seems to be making a comeback is the soft and tousled look. You know, that "Oh, this? I just woke up like that!" style that inspires envy from all around. We've also seen this look pop up on the likes of Alexa Chung and Lara Stone . To get the look, wet the ends of your hair and use your hands to scrunch them up, creating a very soft wave. Let your hair air dry and then flip it all upside down and shake your fingers throughout to create slight volume and natural messiness.

Believe it or not, it actually is that easy, and now you're all set to translate this timeless look from the runway to the street!
