With the amount of space-themed films that have recently hit the big screen - think: The Martian, Guardians of the Galaxy, Interstellar, Gravity, or even the upcoming Star Wars reboot - it seems safe to say that, these days, our eyes are fixed to the sky. Why not channel your budding interest in space exploration into an out of this world manicure? Follow our tutorial to recreate L'Oréal Paris spokesperson Soo Joo Park 's galaxy nail art...
Start by removing any nail polish, then clip and file your nails into the desired length and shape.
Soak your fingertips in warm, soapy water for several minutes. Once your cuticles are softened, wash your hands before using an orange stick to push the cuticles back. Finish by slathering on a nourishing hand cream and giving it some time to sink in.
Apply a base coat to create a smooth foundation for your intergalactic look and allow it to dry before moving on to the next step.
Apply two coats of navy blue to create a totally opaque base color. Next, mix a small amount of navy blue and white polish on aluminum foil to create a bespoke baby blue shade. Use a very small manicure sponge and dip it into the color, then tap any excess off before applying it to the nails (sometimes to the corners, sometimes in the center). Allow it to dry and then use a toothpick dipped in white polish to create small star shapes.
Once your galaxy look is completely dry, protect it with a thick, glossy top coat. All done!
