Summer is the season of bronze: whether that means dark-golden highlights in your wavy sunkissed locks, or giving your skin a beach-ready self-tan glow, it surely is the shade of the season! On both the red carpet and the runway, we have been spotting this shimmering chrome shade in the makeup palettes of gorgeous models and stars alike, and we want to get in on the trend! Here are our top 5 ways of going bronze with your makeup this season...
1. Bronzer for defined cheekbones
Whether you are looking to follow in the contouring footsteps of Jennifer Lopez or the Kardashians, or are simply wanting to add a defined edge to your face shape, bronzer is for you! Work a bronzer a couple of shades darker than your skintone into the hollows of your cheeks and dab a highlighter along the top of your cheekbones, before blending together with a natural, matte face powder.
2. Eyeliner with a bronze shimmer
For a hot summery twist to your eye makeup, opt for a dark brown or kohl pencil eyeliner and define the upper and lower lashlines from the inner tearduct to the outer lashes. Then blend around the inner eye with either a shimmering bronze-toned pencil or apply eyeshadow with a small-headed precision brush, working up slightly onto the upper lid for a hint of glittter.
3. A no-mascara, bronze look
Keep your makeup simple and natural under the heat of the summer sun and leave the mascara at home! Instead, choose a bronze eyeshadow 1 to 2 shades darker than your skintone and work it along the lashline, before dusting into the upper crease line of your eye socket. Blend with a light champagne tone on the lid and just below the brow for a simple and natural daytime look.
4. The bronzed smoky eye
From daytime chic to an evening look, bronze lights up any beauty palette! Incorporate a lighter, more golden shimmer into your classic smoky eye by using a cream eyeshadow around the tearduct and blend across the lid with a coffee or a charcoal shade, before applying a couple of coats of volumizing mascara.
5. Get bronze wings!
For an alternative edge to the bronze eye-makeup trend, give yourself a glamorous pair of wings! Work a dark shade from the outer lashes up towards the brow line before turning the brush back to create a 45° angle. Fill this triangle with the same dark bronze shade before blending across the lid with a shimmering white or cream.
