The matte beauty look: video tutorial with Eddie Malter

Move over, gloss and shimmer, the matte effect is a great way to work a subtle, yet stunning, beauty look! Eddie Malter, L'Oréal Paris Canada's makeup expert, shows us how we can get the look ourselves...

Matte Makeup

Step one

Apply your favorite foundation, then use a large soft makeup brush to lightly dust on some mattifying powder, like True Match Powder, over your forehead, temples, nose and chin.

Step two

An eyeshadow like L'Oréal Paris' Cupa Joe is perfect, not only for its matte finish but you can use the three tones to create a subtle smoky eye.

Step three

Use a soft kohl liner along the upper lash line to give your eyes definition. Eddie's tip is to apply the liner from the inner lashes out.

Step four

A mascara such as Voluminous Butterfly will give you super long, large lashes. Or you could go for the Miss Manga mascara, for a wide-eyed look. It depends on how you prefer to wear your mascara.

Step five

A nude lipstick, lightly brushed over with some mineral face powder, completes your makeup look.

Matching Matte Nails

Step six

For an all-over matte beauty look, don't forget your nails! L'Oréal Paris' Magic Top Coat in Matte Velvet is perfect for turning any nail polish into a matte one - even complex nail art designs! Just apply at the very end, as you would any top coat.

Thanks Eddie, for another of your excellent beauty tutorials. You can find more here, here, and here!
