Berry shades

Top 5 lipstick colors for Fall 2014

Don't get down just because summer is on its last legs! Fall is a great excuse for layering, trying out different textures, letting your hair grow, and embracing those rich autumnal shades. And we don't just mean in your wardrobe... while you might have been working bright orange gloss, or matte fuchsia lipstick this summer, now it's time to start thinking about what new lip colors you want to try out come fall. We've got five suggestions, for every occasion:

Berry picking

Keep up your vitamin C intake with one of your five fruit a day...on your lips! Delicious berry shades like this ravishing raspberry look great against an autumnal color palette. Keep the rest of your makeup natural, and let your lips do all the talking.

Rose pink

Stay with the Mother Nature theme and work the English Rose look. A slick of slightly iridescent rose pink lipstick or balm will bring color to your lips as well as keeping them hydrated.

Smudged dark red

Red lipstick doesn't have to scream "look at me"! By lightly smudging the contours of your lips, you make the lip line less defined, which means your pout stands out less. This allows you to try out colors that you usually wouldn't dare!

Deep plum

Back to those fruit again! We love this delicious plum shade of purple with a sheer finish to it. Purple lipstick has been all over the runway and the red carpet recently - maybe it'll be your next seasonal lip color?

Nude tones

Just as good in summer as in fall, nude lips are perfect if you've got a dramatic eye makeup look. Just bear in mind that if you go for nude lips, don't forget the blusher and a sweep of bronzer or you'll just end up looking cold....
