Top beauty tips: 3 techniques to flawless face contouring!

by Samantha Hunt -

Do you dream of getting defined cheekbones and flawless facial features without going under the knife? Well we at Get the Look are always on the lookout for those beauty products that highlight your best features, and when it comes to adding definition to your look, we think we've hit the jackpot!

Here are our top three tips for "sculpting" your face with some simple additions to your makeup routine...

How to add facial definition with makeup

1. Contouring

Stars such as L'Oréal Paris ambassador Jennifer Lopez and those trend-setting Kardashian sisters are definite advocates of this technique that uses a base layer of foundation 2 to 3 shades darker than your natural coloring to redefine your bone structure. Having found the powder in the right shade for you, apply it to the hollows of your cheeks; just below the line of your chin; the temples of your forehead and to the sides of your nose. Then dust your face with a powder the same color as your normal skintone to blend in the newly-created shadows.

2. The illuminator

Illuminator is definitely one of the stars' favorite products for the ultimate red carpet look. As well as giving a satin finish to your skin, this miracle product helps to show off and light up all of your best features! Streamline any features you want by adding a touch of the highlighter and blend, such as on the top of your nose. If you dream of luscious lips, apply a touch of illuminator to your upper lip before smoothing on your chosen glossy lip shade. The result is magical!

3. The tanning products

Last but certainly not least, add dimension to your complexion by working a light, natural tan. We always feel our best when we have just returned from a trip to the beach, and not only because we're still in that post-vacation haze! A tan is the perfect way to play with your skintone's natural shadows and light. To tan without damaging your skin, apply a bronzing powder at home. Dust the product around the same facial areas as we recommended above for contouring, this time with an angled brush.
