The third day of World Mastercard Fashion Week has come and gone! From March 17-21, Canadian designers are presenting their collections for Fall 2014, and we're covering all of our favorite trends! While there are certain key looks we've noticed in multiple shows, so far each day of Fashion Week has brought something new and exciting to the table! Let's take a closer look...
Toronto Fashion Week: Day 3
Designers such as Joe Fresh used fabrics with photographic images printed on them to convey moods and themes within their collections. Woodland landscapes, moons, and foxes evoked a sense of mysticism, adventure, and ruggedness, while city skylines and antique paintings with gilded frames offered a more refined touch.
Pink Tartan is a fashion label well-known for taking classic looks and bringing them right up to date. Their collection for Fall 2014 had a heavy emphasis on classic patterns like plaid, gingham, fair isle, and houndstooth. Keeping almost everything within a neutral palette and infusing new styles, like tucking in one's hair to create a faux bob, made the looks current.
Yesterday on Get the Look we dissected one of the hottest trends from the runway and the red carpet: the crop top! It was already set to be a huge Spring 2014 trend and now it looks like we'll be wearing the crop top well into winter. Worried about baring your midriff in the winter weather? Fear not! (well, maybe a little)... crop tops are being made in heavy knits and with turtlenecks! Plus, teaming your crop top with warmer fabrics like leather and fur is officially in.
Faux fur has been everywhere. Wear it on a coat, as a skirt, around your neck, on your bag, or pretty much anywhere else you can think of, and you'll be right on trend for Fall 14!
Okay, we're ready for Day 4!
