Well, it's day four of the World Mastercard Fashion Week here in Toronto, and here are four more trends that we've spotted on the runway. All you have to do is decide whether or not you'll be working them next fall...!
Toronto Fashion Week: Day 4
Hoods and hats
Designers like Rudsak and (yesterday's) Kimberley Newport-Mimran for Pink Tartan wrapped their models up in deliciously warm hats and hoods. Perfect for snuggling into on a windy autumn day, or hiding that bad hair day! In the audience, and loving the furry headwear, were Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier and Toronto Raptors point guard Julyan Stone. Talk about a VIP front row!
If you don't know how to ride a horse, you've got six months to learn. Why? Because next fall, you're going to be reaching for your jodhpurs and riding crop - equestrian fashion is going to have its moment! The top hat adds an element of ringmaster/dressage to the ensemble. Yes it's unexpected, but we like that.
Stop press! As we noted yesterday, fur is going to be big next fall/winter. Sure, it's not unexpected, but it's always a treat to see beautifully tailored fur coats swish down the runway, like this one from the Farley Chatto fall 2014 collection. You don't have to go for fur from head to toe - try a hat or fur stole to start you off.
A touch of glamour
After all that wrapping up, it was with relief that we saw the Claudette By Claudette Floyd & Helmer show, with its glamorous short dresses, ruffles and sparkles, as well as sculpted jackets and voluminous skirts. Fall fashion? We're fine with that.
