Crop tops rule at Pariah Shirvani, Toronto Fashion Week Summer 2014

Toronto Fashion Week's biggest trends

by Kathy Saunders -

Toronto Fashion Week has come to an end, but not without giving us a good look at what trends to expect in Spring/Summer 2014. As we looked back at the shows this morning, a thought occured to us: why wait until Spring? Get ahead of the game and incorporate these looks into your wardrobe now!

Crop Tops

These youthful, sexy numbers have been cropping up on the red carpets and runways for the last couple of seasons, but we rarely see them on the street. Crop tops mean we've got to worry about keeping our midriffs "bikini-ready" all year long, which seems slightly tragic, but this is a look we're willing to make the sacrifice for. For a slightly more demure look, pair a crop top with a high waisted skirt and bare just an inch or two of skin- it's a lot easier to get away with than the looks we saw at the Pariah Shirvani show, but just as current.

Neutrals

When we think of Spring and Summer, we normally imagine florals and bright colors . In 2014, it's all about neutrals. Fashion houses traded in exotic prints for black, white, and beige almost across the board. While it might sound a bit boring, we think having a closet full of neutral basics with which to mix-and-match would make getting dressed in the morning a whole lot easier.

Going Nude

We mentioned before that Pink Tartan kept their hair and make-up looks very soft and natural this year, but they weren't the only ones. "No Makeup" makeup was a huge hit and we're thrilled. Aside from the fact that it means less fussing about with lip liners and shimmery shadows, you can pair natural makeup with a neutral outfit for a polished look, or, with a crop top for something with a little more edge.

Well, would you dare to wear these looks? What trends will you be sporting this Spring?
