Tutorial: get Blake Lively's beachy waves

Blake Lively attended the opening of H&M's New Orleans flagship store on November 15. The Gossip Girl was looking cool and casual in a ruffled blouse, mini skirt, and grey zebra print blazer. Of course, the California native couldn't resist bringing a little bit of summer to her winter ensemble- enter the star of Lively's lovely look: beachy waves!

Lively's hair and makeup looks are consistently some of the best of the red carpet. What else would you expect from a L'Oreal brand ambassador? From super sleek ponytails to glamorous Old Hollywood curls, Lively's silky locks never fail to impress. We're here to tell you how to get this look!

Step one: For truly shiny locks, you need to replenish the moisture taken out by regular heat styling, exposure to chemical hair treatments, or even dry air. Use a 10 minute hair mask before washing. Then, wash and condition hair as usual.

Step two: Starting with wet hair, distribute volume mousse evenly throughout. This will help give your hair height and keep it's shape. If you can, let your hair air dry. If you're short of time, use a diffuser and scrunch up the hair to create natural, loose waves.

Step three: If you've got very straight hair that has trouble curling on it's own, use a large-barelled curling iron and wrap your hair around the wand gently. Remember: You don't want a tight curl, but rather a big loose wave.

Step four: Spray with a bit of sea salt spray to give your hair a little muss and create natural peaciness. Then, spray all over with a curl defining spray. This will help keep your hair in place like hairspray, but is formulated specifically to help those waves maintain their shape.

You're all set! Oh, I wish we all could be California girls!
