Vampire Academy LA premiere: red carpet trends

On February 4, 2014, The Weinstein Company hosted the premiere of Vampire Academy in Los Angeles, California. Some of our favorite up-and-comers attended the event, wearing what might turn into the hottest trends for Spring 2014!

The film

Vampire Academy is the story of Rose Hathaway (played by Zoey Deutch), a half human/half vampire (aka Dhampir). Along with the Moroi, who are peaceful vampires living discretely in the human world, she must protect her world and her best friend, Princess Lissa Dragomir (played by Lucy Fry), from the bloodthirsy and evil Strogoi vampires. Will she fail? Will she succeed? Guess you'll have to watch the film...

The stars

The stars of the film hit the red carpet in some really fantastic looks. We noticed several key trends at the premiere that are slated to have huge success off the red carpet as well, so if you want to step into Spring 2014 in style, keep reading!

La Vie en Rose

We've written before that pink is having its moment right now. However, if bubblegum pink isn't really your style (or doesn't suit your skin tone), consider trying dusty rose. Lucy Fry, Zoey Deutch, and Sarah Hyland all wore different shades of the color, ranging from a soft, vintage pink, to dusty rose and even mauve.

Vintage Volume

The side-swept vintage curls we spotted on Debby Ryan and Stefanie Scott are hugely popular at the moment, and they don't seem to be going anywhere! Stefanie opted for the classic, ultra-glam version of this look, with perfectly sculpted curls. Debby Ryan, on the other hand, went for an updated and edgier version with messier curls and a deeper side part.

Ah, some our favorite looks of the evening! Pops of color, bead embellishments, and a dose of vintage flair? Sounds like all the makings of a perfect outfit for spring! Sami Gayle was spotted in a powder blue shift dress with blue bead detailing. She wore retro makeup, minimal jewelry, and music-note-patterned shoes to top off her whimsical look! Holland Roden opted for a bright watercolor-inspired coordinate suit. This pattern would make a great alternative to florals if you're looking for something more modern. Her messy bun and bright lipstick really pull the look together.

Vampire Academy will hit theaters on February 7.
