Contouring used to be a technique that only those trained makeup artists would dare to use, until it became one of the hottest makeup techniques of the year! Made mainstream by the likes of those unstoppable Kardashians, many celebrities now swear by this sculpting technique, designed to really accentuate your natural assets!
For any first-timers, contouring can seem a bit daunting, which is why we couldn't be happier that Canadian beauty vlogger Rhaea Estelle has teamed up with L'Oréal Paris Canada to walk us through the process. Check out her video tutorial for an easy to follow step-by-step guide!
Be a contouring queen!
Always start your makeup routine with clean, moisturized skin. Then begin by smoothing on a layer of Magic Lumi primer to create a glowing and light-reflecting base for your makeup look. Primer also helps to keep your makeup in place for longer! Allow the primer to properly absorb into your skin before moving on to the next step.
Next, take a matte foundation and dot pea-sized amounts across your face, making sure to cover any problem points or dark spots. Use a makeup sponge to blend the foundation in a gentle dabbing motion.
Now for the highlights, and we don't mean for your hair! Like Rhaea, dab the light concealer shade under your eyes, chin, bridge of your nose, and across the forehead in a fan-like shape.
Now take a darker concealer stick to apply the shadowed areas. Use it like a crayon to draw into the hollows of the cheeks, in dashes around the temples of the forehead, and on either side of the nose and under the jawline.
Pick a soft, clean makeup sponge and start your blending!
What makeup to team with your gorgeously contoured conplexion? Follow in Rhaea's footsteps with a coat of Miss Manga Rock mascara and a pink lip shade.
Who knew contouring could be this simple?
