If there's one beauty trend that dominated the red carpets and catwalks worldwide in 2014, it's winged eyeliner. This year, we saw sultry feline flicks and bold geometric liner gracing the eyelids of our favorite A-listers, from Reese Witherspoon, Nicola Peltz, and Abigail Spencer to Suki Waterhouse, and L'Oréal Paris' own brand ambassador Barbara Palvin !
Love the look? Well, the good news is it's not too late to try it! We expect the winged eyeliner trend will carry straight through to 2015! So, what are you waiting for?

Whether using a kohl pencil, liquid pen liner, or gel, start your eye makeup by applying an eye makeup primer all over your eyelid and along the lash line. This will prevent your eyeliner from transferring to the top of your eyelid when you open your eyes.
Starting from the inner corner of your eye, gently drag your pen/brush along the lash line, following its natural shape. Keep the line as close to your lashes and as thin as possible- you can always go back over and it's better to have too little than too much! Once you reach the outer corner, stop. Go back over the outer 2/3 and make the line slightly thicker to elongate the appearance of the eye, giving you that gorgeous "cat" shape.
Now it's time to create the flick. The key to perfecting your flick is, according to makeup expert Eddie Malter, practice! However, if you're just starting out, there's one trick to getting picture perfect liner every time! Take a piece of tape and touch it to your clothes a few times to soften the adhesive, then stick to along the side of your eye at an upward angle.
Next, take your liner at the point where you stopped earlier and drag it toward the tape. If there's a little area of blank space, fill it in. Gently remove the piece of tape to reveal a perfectly straight winged line.
Examine your makeup to check that both eyes match up. If they don't, simply take a cotton bud and lightly drag it along any imperfections until both eyes match up. Finish with mascara!
