Coco Rocha was born in 1988 in Toronto, Canada, and grew up in Richmond, BC. She was "discovered" at an Irish dance competition by Charles Stuart, who asked her to model- a career move she has never considered before. Rocha began her professional career in 2006, when she was featured in an editorial with Gemma Ward and Amanda Moore. She landed the Feburary 2006 cover of Vogue Italia, walked the runway at New York Fashion week for Spring/Summer, and was then invited to walk at Paris Fashion Week. The model has worked with Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, Stella McCartney, and Christian LaCroix.
In the span of her career, Coco has worked on a multitude of advertising campaigns, including but not limited to: Yves Saint Laurent, Espirit, Balenciaga, Dior, Chanel, Rimmel, and De Beers. She has become a friend to Karl Lagerfeld and worked with him on several projects. In 2013, Rocha helped pass a bill in New York that would protect underage models. She has also spoken out against the rise of eating disorders in the modeling industry.
